    Mashantuckets hosting 26th Annual Schemitzun this weekend

    The Mashantucket Pequot Tribe will host its 26th Annual Schemitzun, the feast of green corn and dance, this weekend on the tribe’s reservation. Activities — arts and crafts displays, a 17th century eastern woodlands village exhibit and traditional cuisine and competitive dancing — will be offered from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Grand entry will take place at noon and 6 p.m. Saturday and at noon Sunday.

    Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and children. Children 5 and younger are free. No on-site parking will be permitted. Free shuttle buses will operate from Foxwoods Resort Casino, departing every 30 minutes from The Fox Tower valet, the Grand Pequot Tower bus loop, the Great Cedar bus loop, Two Trees Inn and the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center.
