Michael and Michele Dickey of Old Lyme announce the engagement of their daughter, Lauren Smith Dickey, to Brian C. Girasoli, son of Carl Girasoli of Franklin and Irene DeCesare of Norwich.

Lauren is a graduate of Lyme-Old Lyme High School and earned a bachelor of arts degree in English from Haverford College and a master of science degree in education from the University of New Haven. She teaches sophomore and senior English at Norwich Free Academy.

Brian graduated from Norwich Free Academy and earned a bachelor of arts degree in English from the University of Connecticut and a master of science degree in journalism from Quinnipiac University. A former sports writer for the Norwich Bulletin, he is now an English teacher at Lyman Memorial High School in Lebanon.

The two met while playing in the Old Lyme Town Band — Lauren percussion, Brian euphonium — and plan to make beautiful music together for the rest of their lives!

An August 2016 wedding is planned in Old Lyme.
