New York — The Coast Guard Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to the education and welfare of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced that at the 35th Annual Salute to the U.S. Coast Guard, which was held in New York City on Oct. 8, more than $1 million was raised.

Of that total, $250,000 will be allocated to the foundation's scholarship program, which helps make college dreams a reality for the children of enlisted Coast Guard members.
