Lyme — The Lyme-Old Lyme VFW Post 1467 is seeking assistance in identifying veterans of any service or era, and/or their families who are in need. The post offers temporary monetary assistance to defray costs for rental payments or mortgage interest payments, utility or home heating fuel, tuition assistance, medical expenses, medications, eyeglasses, food and incidentals, children's clothing needs and durable medical equipment.

The VFW also may help temporarily defray the costs of vehicle expenses, home repairs, maintenance or disabled access renovations. Personal privacy is always protected.

There are some purposes for which assistance is not available, but all VFW disbursements are reviewed and determined by the executive board for payments and purchases for veterans' and veterans' family assistance.
