Fire forces evacuation of New London hotel
New London ― An electrical fire on Sunday forced the evacuation of the Clarion Inn, where residents were moved to a different hotel for the night.
Firefighters were alerted to a fire alarm at the 269 N. Frontage Road hotel at 8:52 p.m. and arrived to find smoky conditions traced to an electrical panel. The building was evacuated and searched as power was shut off to the building, fire officials said.
The fire in the electrical panel was extinguished. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the New London Fire Marshal’s Office. Guests at the hotel were relocated by hotel management to the Red Roof Inn on Colman Street in New London.
