    Sub base drill to include live automatic weapons firing with blanks

    Groton — The Naval Submarine Base and its Naval Security Force will participate in Exercise "Citadel Protect," and conduct various training evolutions and drills along the base's waterfront from July 24 to Aug. 3.

    Training occurring July 25-27 and August 1-2 will include live automatic weapons firing with blanks. The live-fire drills with blanks are scheduled to occur only between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Drills also will involve base security boats, simulated aggressor boats, submarines and waterfront facilities.

    A regularly scheduled Navy-wide exercise, "Citadel Protect" will continue the base's efforts to enhance the readiness of its Naval Security Forces to respond to threats to the base and its homeported submarines.
