"Bull" is a program about lawyers and courtroom trials, which in itself is very unusual. Anyway, it's stupid — and not just because it's based on Dr. Phil from back in the days when he did legal consultations for clients like Oprah Winfrey. A famous actor named Michael Weatherly — whom I'd never heard of but pretty much looks nothing like Dr. Phil — portrays the titular Dr. Jason Bull, who heads up a super squad of trial consultants that includes investigators, computer wizards, intuitive shrinks, and a ridiculous headquarters containing more technical gear than the NASA set lorded over by Ed Harris in "Apollo 13." For a lot of money, Bull & Company will tell a lawyer which jury candidates to choose before a trial starts. It's incredible how accurate they are! If it wasn't on TV, I wouldn't believe it! And, yet, I liked the damned thing! Maybe part of it is that I'm scheduled for jury duty in early January and maybe I can learn from "Bull" how to get out of it.
