Movie tip: Portman is the reason to see "Jackie"

    Jackie

    Movie tip

    Jackie

This drama is a tone poem about Jackie Kennedy around the time of JFK's assassination — so we see her horror, her intense grief, and her eventual desire to make certain her husband is remembered. The movie can get, dare we say, a little dull as the camera meanders after Natalie Portman playing Jackie. Director Pablo Larrain and screenwriter Noah Oppenheim tend to strive for mood more than narrative momentum. And you won't come away from this film getting a new perspective on Jackie. What you will get, though, is a real appreciation for Portman's acting skills. She absolutely lives in Jackie's skin.
