UPDATED: Tractor trailer accident creates congestion on I-395 South in Norwich

Norwich – A jackknifed tractor trailer on the southbound side of Interstate 395 has created congestion along a 3-mile stretch of highway between Exits 84S and 82.

Police had closed down the right lane of traffic following the 2:36 p.m. accident between Exits 83 and 82. The state Department of Transportation originally reported the accident to be an overturned tractor trailer.

The Occum and Yantic fire departments responded to the accident with state police.

A similar tractor trailer accident was reported earlier today on Interstate 395 North between Exits 80W and 81E.
