Montville – Route 163, between Pequot Road and Bridge Street, was closed this afternoon after high winds knocked a tree limb onto power lines.

A tractor trailer later struck the low hanging wires.

The incident occurred at about 5:15 p.m. It is unclear how long the road will remain closed. Montville police and firefighters are at the scene and crews from Eversource Energy were called in to repair the power lines.

The gusty winds have led to scattered calls for falling tree limbs and power outages.
