Man sentenced for orchestrating Molotov cocktail attack
WORCESTER, Mass. — A former Fitchburg man convicted of orchestrating the firebombing of a home that belonged to a man he believed had robbed him of money and drugs has been sentenced to up to 18 years in prison.
John Yang was sentenced Wednesday, a day after a Worcester Superior Court jury convicted him of planning the July 2013 attack on a home occupied by a woman and child. They were not injured.
Authorities say Yang did not carry out the attack, but was a drug dealer who hired three of his customers to throw Molotov cocktails at the home in exchange for heroin.
The Telegram & Gazette reports that Yang said at sentencing it was unfair he was getting such a stiff sentence while the men who carried out the attack only got probation.
