Police investigate bank robbery in Waterford

Waterford - Police are investigating a Monday afternoon robbery at the Charter Oak Federal Credit Union branch at 3 Boston Post Road.

At 2:15 p.m. police said a man handed a teller a note asking for money and bank staff complied. Waterford Police Lt. Stephen Bellos said the suspect gave no indication of having a weapon.

"Most banks comply. There's no reason for anyone to get hurt," said Bellos.

Police said the man fled out the front door with an undetermined amount of money toward New London.

The police department’s investigative services division is working with bank security officers on the investigation.
