    Woman suspected of selling 'bad' heroin charged in Norwich

    Norwich — Police have arrested a Jewett City woman suspected of selling “bad” heroin across the region that resulted in several overdoses and possibly even a death, police said.

    Keshawn “Sugar” Blanco, 34, was arrested by members of the Norwich Police Department’s Narcotics Unit on Main Street in Norwich on Monday, according to Norwich Detective Jason Calouro. Blanco was found to be in possession of heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine, police said.

    The arrest was the result of collaborative work by detectives from both Norwich and Groton Town police departments. Groton Town Police Detective Lt. John Varone said there has been a recent spate of heroin overdoses in Groton, including three fatal overdoses in the past two weeks.

    Blanco is charged with conspiracy to sell heroin, sale of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to sell, possession of crack cocaine, possession of crack cocaine with intent to sell, possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    William Dunn, 41, also was arrested Monday on charges of sale of heroin and conspiracy to sell heroin.

    Blanco remains in prison in lieu of a $250,000 bond and is due to appear May 1 in Norwich Superior Court.
