The state police Eastern District Major Crime Squad is assisting Mohegan Tribal police after an early morning stabbing at a Mohegan Sun casino parking garage.

The stabbing occurred about 3:30 a.m. in the Riverview parking garage, police said. Initial investigation revealed that the victim and suspect, or suspects, met at the parking garage and a confrontation ensued. Neither the victim nor suspects ever entered the casino.

Police said the victim and the suspects were known to each other and this was not a random act of violence. The unidentified male suspects fled the scene.

New London police stopped a car early Wednesday morning on Ocean Avenue in connection with the stabbing. Police found a stabbing victim inside the car. He was taken by ambulance to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for treatment of a stab wound to the abdomen, according to state police.

Police have released photos related to the incident and are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect or suspects and the vehicle involved. Anyone with information, or who knows the identity of the suspects or vehicle used in the crime, is asked to contact the Mohegan Tribal Police Department at (860) 862-7460.

Police have confirmed that the unidentified stabbing victim has an active warrant for his arrest in Norwich.
