A former Hartford police officer, who has been arrested five times in area towns over the past week, remains in custody this morning at the Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center.

Kenneth Elyosius, 62, of Bristol, was arrested on Monday by New London police after they said he repeatedly yelled profanities and tried to start a fight in the Lawrence + Memorial Hospital emergency room and later urinated on the floor of the police station booking area.

Over this past weekend, he was charged by both Groton Town and Stonington police in boating-related incidents.

Last Tuesday, Elyosius was arrested in Mystic after police said he anchored his 30-foot boat in the channel of the Mystic River just south of the drawbridge, refused to move and shouted obscenities at other boaters.

A day later, he was charged in New London after police said he went to Hot Rod Cafe, where he had been previously warned to stay out, and told an employee that when he saw the business owner he was going to kill him.

Elyosius is being held on a total of $60,000 in bonds, pending his next court date on Sept. 11.
