Ledyard man in good condition after he was injured in car-moped accident

Ledyard — A Ledyard man who was seriously injured Thursday after he was involved in a car-moped accident on Route 117 is listed in good condition at Hartford Hospital, a hospital spokesman said Friday.

Jeremy J. Traxier, 24, of 3 Hickory Drive, Ledyard, was transported by Life Star to Hartford Hospital after he sustained a serious head injury, police said.

The accident happened around noon on Route 117 at the intersection of Village Drive.

According to police, Sean T. Peavey, 25, of 10 Cathcart Drive, Griswold, was driving a 2011 Ford Taurus south on Route 117 at the same time Traxier was driving a 1978 Puch Maxi-Luxe, also south.

The two vehicles crossed paths at the intersection of Village Drive. Peavey was not injured, police said.

Fire officials had said they found Traxier lying in the travel portion of the roadway. Because of the nature and extent of the injuries, a Life Star helicopter was called to the scene. The Gales Ferry Fire Company established a landing zone at the nearby Ledyard Center School.

Route 117 at Village Drive was closed for several hours while police investigated.
