Norwich — Police said they arrested a local man Thursday after they found him in possession of heroin.

Ricardo Alvarez, 30, of 5 Norman Road, Apt. R., was charged with possession of heroin with intent to sell, possession of heroin, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal violation of a protective order.  

Police said they executed a search warrant at his residence and found a "moderate" amount of heroin.

Alvarez is being held in lieu of $150,000 bond, pending his arraignment today in Norwich Superior Court.
