Plainfield police charge man with sexual assault

Plainfield — Police said they have arrested a 33-year-old man following an investigation that found a woman had been sexually assaulted last month in the forest located off Snake Meadow Hill Road.

Police said the victim had been assaulted for several hours from Aug. 17 to Aug. 18 in different locations in the forest.

The Plainfield Police Department began the investigation after the Quinebaug Valley Dispatch notified the department at approximately 11 a.m. on Aug. 18 that an alleged victim had been taken to the hospital.

Police said they secured an arrest warrant and charged Keith T. Coolidge, whose last known address is 260 Snake Meadow but who often lives in the forests in Moosup, with first-degree sexual assault, first-degree unlawful restraint, and third-degree assault.

He was arrested around noon on Friday on Village Circle in Moosup.

Coolidge is being held on a $250,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned at Danielson Superior Court on Monday.
