Investigation into infant's death in Old Saybrook continuing, arrest made

Old Saybrook —The boyfriend of the mother of a 14-month-old infant who was found unresponsive Saturday in an Econo Lodge room and later died is being held as a fugitive from justice as he is wanted on robbery charges in New York, police said.

Police said they, along with the Old Saybrook Ambulance Association and the Middlesex Hospital Paramedic, responded to Econo Lodge at 1750 Boston Post Road after a caller on Saturday afternoon reported an unresponsive infant who wasn't breathing.

The infant, who was transported first to Middlesex Hospital Shoreline Medical Center, then to Yale-New Haven Hospital, died Sunday evening, according to police.

Police said they, through a search-and-seizure warrant, seized many items from the hotel room for forensic examination Saturday evening.

Police also said they interviewed several people, including Keith Frost, 29, who is the boyfriend of the infant's mother.

Police said they subsequently charged Frost with being a fugitive from justice. He is wanted in Suffolk County, N.Y. on first-degree robbery.

Old Saybrook police charged him with criminal impersonation.

Frost was arraigned Monday in Middlesex Superior Court and is being held on a $375,000 bond.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to contact the department at (860) 395-3142.
