New London — The total number of people arrested following a late November multiple-weapon shooting on Crystal Avenue now stands at six, according to police.

Damien Bartholomew, 36, of 105 Laurel Hill Ave., Apt. 1, Norwich, was charged Wednesday on a warrant with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of public housing, possession of a controlled substance, operating a drug factory and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to New London police, Waterford police officers located Bartholomew. Police weren't immediately able to clarify when and where the officers found him, but they said those officers took Bartholomew to the New London police station at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday.

His arrest, police said, is a result of the ongoing investigation of a Nov. 29 shooting incident at 48 Crystal Ave. — where the Thames River Apartments are located — after which police recovered a Norinco AK-47 assault rifle.

Deputy Chief Peter Reichard said by email Wednesday night that Bartholomew's charges stemmed from a search warrant New London police carried out after the November shooting.

Previously charged in the shooting are Rashon A. Saunders, 27, 60 Boulder Drive; Andre N. Cluff, 27, of 111 Truman St.; Nehamiah Carrol, 24, of 48 Crystal Ave., Apt. A78; Jeffery Saunders, 25, of Bronx, N.Y., and Bobby H. Porter, 28, of Taftville.

Records show that Bartholomew has three previous criminal convictions, including one in 2007 for possession of narcotics and two in 2013 — the first for engaging police in pursuit and the second for possession with intent to sell and assault on a public safety member.

For the latter two charges he was sentenced to 10 years in jail suspended after 30 months followed by three years' probation.

Bartholomew on Wednesday was held on a $150,000 bond.

Police continue to investigate the shooting.
