New London — Working with state police, city police Friday morning conducted a search warrant and arrested one man on several drug-related charges, police said.

Heriberto "Flacco" Quinones, 55, of 175 Crystal Ave., Apt. 3, was charged Friday with three counts of possession of narcotics, three counts of sale of narcotics, sale of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a drug factory.

According to a news release, members of the New London Police Department Vice and Intelligence Section, the state police Emergency Service Unit and the Statewide Narcotics Task Force carried out the warrant at 175 Crystal Ave., Apt. 3, around 4:25 a.m.

Police said they found 5.6 grams of heroin, 3.5 grams of cocaine and 6.5 grams of crack cocaine, all of which were individually packaged for sale.

Officers also located a small amount of cash and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Police noted that Winthrop STEM Elementary Magnet School, located at 74 Grove St., is within 1,500 feet of 175 Crystal Ave.

Deputy Chief Peter Reichard said the drugs will be sent to state labs for testing as soon as the weather clears to see whether they're connected to recent overdoses.

Records show that Quinones has one case — for a second-degree breach of peace — pending in court, and four past convictions for one count each of second-degree threatening, interfering with an emergency call, possession of less than one-fourth of an ounce of marijuana and first-degree false reporting.

Police said their investigation is ongoing.
