Ledyard man faces assault, strangulation charges after domestic disturbance

Ledyard — Town police arrested a local man Friday night in connection with a domestic disturbance in which the victim sustained minor injuries.

Edward Allore, 33, of 301 Shewville Road, who was charged with third-degree assault and third-degree strangulation, was wearing military clothing and a protective vest that bore assault-style rifle magazines when he surrendered at the scene, police said.

The ammunition was determined to be airsoft magazines typically used for recreational purposes, police said.

Airsoft guns often fire plastic projectiles, they said.

Officers who responded to the residence where the incident took place met with the victim, who they said reported being restrained and strangled inside the home.

Cement had been placed in the front and back panels of the vest Allore was wearing, police said. He was hiding in a bathroom when he surrendered.

He was scheduled to appear Tuesday in New London Superior Court.
