Police arrest Groton man who allegedly stole vehicle in Ledyard

Ledyard — Police on Wednesday arrested a Groton man who allegedly stole a vehicle in October, according to police.

Hassan T. Ibrahim, 24, of 173 Route 12, Groton, was charged Wednesday on a warrant with third-degree larceny.

Police said Ibrahim allegedly took the vehicle from a residence on Shewville Road on Oct. 3.

Records show Ibrahim, who was arraigned Wednesday at New London Superior Court, has two additional pending cases that are both out of Waterford: One for possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana and another for second-degree larceny.

Ibrahim also has two past convictions, including one out of state police Troop K for sale of a controlled substance and carrying a pistol without a permit, and one out of Waterford for carrying a dangerous weapon and first-degree failure to appear in court.

Ibrahim was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court again March 9.
