Waterford — Throughout the month of April, Waterford police will ramp up their efforts to catch distracted drivers, thanks to a state Department of Transportation grant.
Police said they will send additional officers to high-volume traffic areas and conduct checkpoints with a focus on finding operators using handheld mobile devices.
They also will strictly enforce other violations such as not using a sea tbelt.
The Waterford Police Department is one of 10 municipal departments that received such a grant from the DOT’s Highway Safety office.
