East Lyme — A tree worker has died after his chainsaw struck a power line in the area of Park Place around 12:50 p.m., according to state and local police.

Troopers were called to the scene for an "occupational accident." Donald Rutty, 32, was transported to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

State police said troopers and fire officials were investigating on scene, as well as the Occupational Health and Safety Administration.

No further information was available Friday evening.
