New Britain — Officers from around the state were recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving at the organization's 30th annual Law Enforcement Recognition Ceremony at Central Connecticut State University.

MADD honors officers who help reduce the risk of alcohol-related crashes and injuries as part of its efforts to eliminate drunken driving.

Local police officials honored by MADD include Officers Gregory McCarthy and Albert Martinez of Groton Town, Cfficers Joshua Bergeson and Ryan Linderson of New London, Officer Megan Sylvestre and Officer First Class Gilbert Maffeo of Waterford, Officers Ryan Landry and Keven McNeill of Norwich and Officers First Class Dan Gagnon and Troy Johnson of Ledyard.
