Three Westerly men charged with burglarizing Pawcatuck home

Stonington — Three Westerly men were arrested Friday afternoon after police say they were discovered breaking into a home on Asher Avenue in Pawcatuck.

Christopher P. Banks, 18, and Ronald E. Fowler III, 20, both of 5 Pleasant St., Apt. 3, and their neighbor, Phillip J. Dement, 22, of 5 Pleasant St., Apt. 7, each were charged with third-degree burglary, criminal attempt to commit sixth-degree larceny and third-degree criminal mischief. Banks also was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon. The three were scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court Monday if they do not post $50,000 bonds.

According to police, they received a call at 12:30 p.m. of three suspicious men at a home on Asher Avenue, where the caller said the owners were not home. Police responded and said they found a burglary in process. They located one of the men nearby, and after further investigation located the other two men.
