    Car crashes into New London house, sending driver to hospital

    New London — A house at 57 Faire Harbour Place was damaged when a car crashed into a basement bulkhead about 2:15 p.m. Thursday.

    Police said the driver was pulling into the driveway of the house next door and lost control of the vehicle, crashing through a fence and off a retaining wall before landing against the basement bulkhead.

    The driver was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, which has the entrance to its Emergency Department across the street from the house, for treatment of injuries.

    Police said the injuries were not life-threatening.

    No charges have been filed in the incident.

    City fire and building officials were on the scene assessing structural damage to the house, police said.
