New London — Police arrested a man Friday afternoon and charged him with first-degree possession of child pornography after they said they found more than 500 files of child pornography on his computer.

The Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit received information that Alan J. Gonzalez, 31, of 72 Mountain Ave., No. 2, had been downloading and sharing child pornography.

During the search of Gonzalez's Mountain Avenue address early Friday afternoon, city police said they found hundreds of files on Gonzalez's computer with infants and young teenagers engaged in sexual acts.

Gonzalez was held on a $250,000 bond. No court information was immediately available.
