    Brothers arrested on drug charges after police pursuit, search

    New London — Two brothers were arrested Tuesday on drug charges after a police pursuit and the search of a Norwich residence, according to a Connecticut State Police news release.

    Christian Santos, 27, whose address was listed by the New London Police Department as 140 Plains Road, Apt. 22, Windham, was charged with risk of injury to a minor, tampering with evidence, first-degree reckless endangerment, interfering with police, engaging a police officer in a pursuit, reckless driving and driving without a license, the department said.

    Santos also faces earlier charges of criminal possession of a firearm, possession of narcotics and sale of narcotics.

    He was held on $550,000 in bonds, the department reported.

    After Santos' arrest, detectives from the Statewide Narcotics Task Force searched a Norwich residence and found a .45 caliber handgun, according to the state police news release.

    "While on scene conducting the search, a known narcotics dealer, Giovanni Camacho, who is also the brother of Santos, arrived at the residence," the news release said.

    Camacho, 26, of Plains Road in Widham, had crack cocaine, marijuana, narcotic opioid prescription pills and about $2,000 in cash, the release said. 

    Camacho was charged with two counts of possession of narcotics, two counts of possession of narcotics with inent to sell, possession of marijuana, misuse of plates and driving a motorcycle without a license.

    He was held on a $50,000 bond.

    Santos and Camacho are scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on Wednesday.

    The New London Police Department reported that officers saw Santos driving on Jay Street in New London at noon and knew he was wanted on multiple charges.

    Officers caught up to him on Garvin Street, but Santos led police on a pursuit, destroying his cellphone and throwing it out the window before he pulled over, the city police department release said.

    The pursuit ended at Warren Street.

    Santos had a 15-year-old in the car with him, police said. The 15-year-old was not charged with any crime.
