    Miami trio charged in East Lyme with producing fake credit cards

    East Lyme -- Police announced Friday that on Aug. 19 they arrested three men from Miami, Fla., on charges of producing fraudulent credit cards.

    On that day, police said they received an annoymous tip that four men were staying at Motel 6 in Niantic and producing fraudulent credit cards. After hours of surveillence, police said the men returned to the hotel in a black Honda Civic with Florida plates. The car was registered to a Miami man who was not charged in the case,

    Police said the four men had rented two rooms and were inside. Police said that they found 94 credit cards in the names of Yordiel F. Pena, 22, Daniel Fernandez-Aguilera, 24, and Yadier E. Jorge, along with $3,500 in Target gift cards, approximately $5,000 worth of clothing and shoes, a Playstation 4 and an Apple Watch.

    They were each charged with  conspiracy to commit unlawful completion or reproduction of a credit card. All three men are being held on $50,000 bonds. Pena and Jorge are slated to appear in New London Superior Court Sept. 12 and Fernandez-Aguilera on Sept. 7.
