Computer company official charged with failure to pay

A New London businessman has been charged with two counts of failure to pay wages and with failure to pay minimum or overtime wages.

Linwood Vinson Jr. of Computer Solution LLC was charged Monday after an investigation by the state Department of Labor's Wage and Workplace Standards Division.

According to a Labor Department spokeswoman, Vinson was charged after failing to pay wages to two workers in 2014. The amounts owed, according to warrants, were $7,305.83 for one worker and $8,921.85 for another.

"The complaint for owed wages was received by the Division in August 2014 and multiple attempts via phone calls and certified letters were made in 2014 and 2015 to meet with Mr. Vinson and/or to obtain payment for owed wages," according to spokeswoman Nancy Steffens. "After no response from Mr. Vinson, the Division provided a warrant of arrest to the New London Police Department in July 2015."

Steffens said the case will remain open until a settlement is reached.
