    Mohegan Tribal Police Department gains 2 new K-9 teams

    Mohegan — The Mohegan Tribal Police Department has gained two new K-9 teams that specialize in explosives, according to state police.

    Officer Joseph Morelli, Officer Armand Sylvestre and their Labradors graduated from the state police K-9 academy Friday after eight weeks of training, police said.

    Morelli, police noted, was a K-9 handler and unit instructor with the state police before retiring and heading to the tribal department.

    Police said all of the dogs are Labradors from Guiding Eyes in New York.

    Ten other K-9 teams graduated Friday, including:
