    Groton Town police charge Mystic man with robbing convenience store

    Editor's note: Court documents show that the state nolled, or opted not to prosecute, Brandon Billian's charge of first-degree robbery with a deadly weapon on Oct. 12, 2017. Billian was not convicted of a crime in the case.

    Groton — Town police announced that a Mystic man turned himself in Sunday afternoon in connection with the armed robbery of the Henny Penny gas station and convenience store at the corner of routes 184 and 117 on May 25.

    Brandon Billian, 35, of 75 Nantucket Drive was charged with first-degree robbery with a deadly weapon and is being held on a $150,000 bond. He is slated to appear in New London Superior Court Monday,

    Eight days ago, police asked for the public’s help in locating and apprehending Billian after obtaining a warrant for his arrest.

    Billian allegedly entered the store just before midnight on May 25 brandishing a knife, and stole cash from the register before fleeing on foot.

    Billian is on probation for a third-degree larceny conviction, according to state judicial department records.
