Stonington - Police are investigating the slashing of tires on 11 vehicles parked at the La Quinta Inn on Route 2 in Pawcatuck and the nearby Elm Ridge Road neighborhood last Wednesday night.

Owners of the vehicles discovered the vandalism on Thanksgiving morning, a time when it is difficult to replace the tires because of the holiday, according to Capt. Todd Olson. He said some vehicles had all of their tires slashed.   

But Olson said Evans Mobil of Pawcatuck stepped up to help and worked with an area tire retailer to replace the tires.
