New London — A disagreement between two employees at Lucky Nails Salon escalated to violence Tuesday, police said, as one worker grabbed a ballpoint pen and stabbed another in the face.

Police said the argument between Van Ni Nguyen, 19, of 92 Canterbury Turnpike, Norwich, and an unidentified male stemmed from a business disagreement between the two.

Nguyen first attempted to stab the victim with a pair of cuticle scissors but police said the man disarmed her, police said.

She then allegedly went for a ballpoint pen and stabbed the man. When police arrived at the 191 Jefferson Ave. address, both parties were separated and the man was bleeding from the face.

Nguyen was charged with second-degree assault and breach of peace. She was being held in lieu of $5,000 bond and will appear in court Wednesday.

The victim was treated and released from Lawrence + Memorial Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
