    2 men charged after Friday morning crash in Ledyard

    Ledyard — Police on Friday arrested one man and charged another with a misdemeanor after the latter allegedly crashed into a tree and got help from the former to leave the scene.

    Robert C. Wade, 25, of 43E Flintock Road was charged with traveling too fast for conditions and evading responsibility.

    Nathaniel S. Lindsey, 22, of 9 Brentford Berwick was charged on warrants with five counts of failure to appear in court.

    According to police, the crash occurred near 85 Lambtown Road about 6:40 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found a 1995 Ford F150 resting against a tree with moderate damage. No one was in or around the vehicle, police said.

    Police said they identified Wade as the operator and located him at his residence a short time after the wreck.

    Wade allegedly told police Lindsey had picked him up from the scene. Police found Lindsey within Wade’s residence.

    Lindsey, held on a combined cash bond of $50,000, was due in New London Superior Court on Friday.

    Wade, who was issued a summons, has a court date of April 20.
