    City of Norwich firefighters snuff blaze in walls

    Norwich — With the help of a thermal imaging camera, city firefighters found and extinguished a fire in the walls of a Fifth Street home Wednesday morning.

    According to Battalion Chief Keith Wucik, the fire occurred behind a dishwasher on the first of two floors at 103 Fifth St. Firefighters used the thermal camera to locate the flames after finding smoke  in the house when they arrived. The blaze was called in about 10:34 a.m. and put out within 10 minutes. There were no injuries. The fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
