Police: Colchester man arrested after threatening undercover federal agent

New London — Police arrested a Colchester man Friday morning after they said he threatened a plain-clothed federal agent with a firearm.

Jason Gross, 29, of 11 Birch Circle, No. 4, was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace.

According to police, the federal agent reported that he was threatened by a motorist while operating his agency car. The agent followed the suspect vehicle as officers were dispatched to the scene and stopped both vehicles in the area of Reed Street and Wausau Place.

Additional investigation found that Gross, who was wearing a Dunbar security uniform, had drawn a gun on the agent while stopped at the traffic light at the intersection of Eugene O'Neill Drive and Governor Winthrop Boulevard, police said. Officers said they seized a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol and ammunition.
