    Police charge woman in Friday night stabbing in New London

    New London — Police said they have charged a 59-year-old city woman in connection with a domestic violence stabbing at a city residence Friday evening.

    City police and firefighters had responded to a call at 7:29 p.m. Friday that a person had been stabbed during a domestic dispute, according to a police report. The individual was found with a stab wound to the chest and was taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital and then Yale-New Haven Hospital for medical treatment, according to the report.

    After an investigation, police charged Marilyn Cruz of 19 Moore Ave., No. 2, with first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree assault, carrying a dangerous weapon, breach of peace and violation of protection order. She was being held on a $200,000 cash-surety bond, police said.

    Police said another individual also was transported to L+M Hospital for medical care in connection with the incident. The identity of this individual was not clear as of Saturday night.
