Garbage truck gets stuck in Stonington pond

Stonington — Crews on Tuesday afternoon were working to extract a garbage truck from a pond after it rolled into the water while unoccupied, according to police.

Capt. Todd Olson said it wasn’t clear whether a mechanical failure sent the truck rolling.

The incident occurred about 12:10 p.m. off Long Wharf Drive, which is in the Bishop’s Cove condominium complex.
