Police: Groton woman arrested after hitting cruiser

Montville — Officers said they arrested a Groton woman early Wednesday morning after she hit a parked police cruiser on Route 32.

Jennifer Robinson, 34, of 127 Mather Ave., Groton, was charged Wednesday in Montville with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, failure to carry certification of registration and insurance, driving with a suspended license and failure to slow down and move over for an emergency vehicle.

According to the arrest summary, Robinson was driving south on Route 32 near Avery Road about 1:30 a.m. when she rear-ended a Montville Police Department cruiser. The cruiser was parked and unoccupied at the time of the collision, as the officer was conducting a traffic stop. State troopers from Troop E responded to the collision.

Both cars were towed from the scene due to damage, and a passenger in Robinson's car was transported to The William W. Backus Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Police said Robinson agreed to a field sobriety test and subsequently was arrested.

Robinson posted a $1,000 surety bond and is due to appear Aug. 22 in Norwich Superior Court.
