Mystic — A Ledyard woman and her husband were each charged with drunk driving early Saturday morning after an officer stopped the woman and the man also pulled over his car.

Taylor C. Torres, 29, whose address is listed as 7 Hillside Drive in Gales Ferry and her husband, Hector J. Torres Jr., 28, whose address is listed as 8 Oak Hill Trail, were each charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

According to Stonington police, an officer on patrol about 1:50 a.m. saw a car driven by Taylor Torres cross the double yellow line as she drove north on Route 27. She was driving behind her husband at the time and when the officer signaled for her to stop, Hector Torres also pulled over his car.

Police said that when the officer spoke to Hector Torres, he detected an odor of alcohol on his breath as he did with Taylor Torres. Police said both husband and wife failed to perform field sobriety tests to the proper standards and were arrested.
