New London — Police said a man accidentally shot himself in the left hand Saturday night.

Police responded to the call, which came in around 9:47 p.m. of an accidental gun discharge at 13 Crest St.

The victim told police that he was handling a Glock 9mm handgun when he accidentally fired it. After the bullet went through his left hand, it lodged in a nearby lounge chair.

The victim was treated at  Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for his injuries, police said.
