Monday night porch fire in Gales Ferry causes minor damage

Gales Ferry — A small fire that began on the back porch of a Pheasant Run Condominium on Monday night left only minor damage in its wake, according to Gales Ferry fire Chief Anthony Saccone.

Saccone said firefighters were called to the 1742 Route 12 complex at 10:27 p.m. The caller reported seeing flames around an outlet.

According to Saccone, the porch fire did extend to the house, but didn’t cause any interior damage. Saccone said he believes the homeowner was allowed to return to the condo by the end of the night.

No one was injured in the fire, to which the Gales Ferry, Ledyard and submarine base departments responded.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
