New London man arrested on gun charges

New London — A 19-year-old New London man was arrested on gun charges following multiple reports of shots fired in the city early Friday morning.

Police have charged Dorvensley Elissaint of 416 Williams St. with breach of peace, reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit and possession of a stolen firearm.

About 5 a.m. Friday, multiple 911 calls came in reporting gunshots fired around Montauk Avenue and Mitchell Court, New London police said in a news release.

Police responded and found a man with a handgun in the rear lot of 30 Montauk Ave. Detectives determined his Sig Sauer 9mm was stolen from Charles Town, W.Va., police said.

Elissaint was held on a $50,000 cash-surety bond, police said.
