Police: 'Highly intoxicated' Salem man fired pistol in backyard
Salem — State police on Tuesday evening charged a town man with drunkenly shooting a pistol in the backyard of his Old Colchester Road home.
Police said William R. Aldridge, 49, of 725 Old Colchester Road was “highly intoxicated” while firing the pistol about 7:45 p.m.
In posts on the Salem CT Town Group page on Facebook, neighbors said police surrounded Aldridge’s home and blocked off a section of the road for more than an hour.
