Police: Man pretending to be officer threatened taxi driver

Orange — A Connecticut man is charged with threatening a taxi driver he felt was blocking his car while picking up a passenger.

Police said 47-year-old Anthony White pretended to be a police officer during the encounter in Orange.

Police said they went to the Springbrook Common office and business complex Thursday for a disturbance call. Witnesses reported White argued with the taxi driver, followed him into an office and threatened to shoot him, pulling out a badge and handcuffs. White left when a third person intervened.

Police said when they found White at home in Derby, he said he thought the driver would take him more seriously if he said he was an officer.

White was arrested on charges of threatening, breach of peace and impersonating a police officer. It's not known if he has an attorney.
