Boston-bound train strikes, kills person in Connecticut

Stratford — The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says a Boston-bound Amtrak train has struck and killed a person on the tracks in Connecticut.

The New York-based commuter rail, subway and bus agency said the death occurred at the Stratford Metro-North station at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. The agency said the person was not authorized to be on the tracks. No name was released.

The train left Washington, D.C., early Wednesday morning and was due in at Boston's South Station at 11:05 a.m.

Amtrak did not immediately respond to a request for information.

    MTA police are investigating.

The MTA's New Haven line commuter rail service was suspended between Bridgeport and New Haven for about 20 minutes.

Trains had resumed service with delays of up to 30 minutes.
