Connecticut man convicted in beating deaths of 3 people

Hartford — A Connecticut man has been convicted in the beating deaths of his mother and two other people in what a prosecutor called a fit of hatred and rage.

A Hartford Superior Court jury found Brett Bednarz guilty of three murder charges Thursday. The verdict came eight months after Bednarz's first trial ended in a hung jury.

The bludgeoned bodies of Bednarz's mother, 74-year-old Beverly Therrien, and two house guests — Michael Ramsey and Pamela Johns — were found in Therrien's East Hartford home on Thanksgiving Day 2010.

Bednarz denied involvement. The defense questioned the state's evidence and suggested two unknown men seen at Therrien's house the night before the bodies were found may have been involved.

Bednarz is to be sentenced March 18. He faces up to life in prison.
